Goals

Promote the sweet potato industry of the United States through generic marketing programs both domestically and in foreign countries.

Increase the consumption of sweet potatoes

Promote research work in the following areas:

Discovering and developing new or better varieties
Control of diseases and insects that adversely affect the production of sweet potatoes
Employ sustainable and efficient horticultural practices, processes, technologies and applications
Discovering and reducing barriers to trade both foreign and domestic
Identifying and promoting new markets and methods of trade
Secure and disseminate to our membership useful and practical information, trends and trading practices relative to the operation and management of the US sweet potato industry

The American Sweet Potato Marketing Institute (ASPMI) is a non-profit organization that promotes the sweet potato industry of the United States to both foreign and domestic buyers. This organization promotes research in the science of sweet potato horticultural practices, processes and technologies to ensure the best quality produce for its members and consumers across the globe.

ASPMI promotes the farming and harvesting of sweet potatoes in 5 American states including North Carolina, California, Louisiana, Mississippi and Arkansas.
